Woke up to another 5 inches of snow today.
It put a huge smile on my face and I got a real itch to go out and play in it!
Is it just me or does the snow bring out the inner child in you too?
Perhaps, it’s because I grew up in South Africa, and snow is something we very, very, rarely see – I remember one snow fall of less than 1/2 an inch the entire twenty one years I lived there.
In South Africa, snow comes out of a can, and is used to create a “wintry” effect on store fronts for the holiday season. Yes, snow is literally sprayed onto the windows, to create the illusion of a white Christmas, while it is 90 degrees Fahrenheit outside. Even the Christmas cards have snow men on them and winter scenes and I just thought it was because Father Christmas comes from the North Pole :) I never once considered that a lot of the world actually has Christmas in winter and not summer!
Okay, back to today…. Real snow!
The twins have been really good about not pestering me to play in the “nose” as the call it. So I called up our cousins and asked if we could join them in some snow fun.
An hour later after all the layers of clothing were in place, I took them over to their cousins via sled.
The first activity was to build their first snow man! This was led by their oldest cousin, but everyone had a hand in it.
Cameron was shown how to roll the HUGE snowball…
Adding the accessories takes some skill – the nose kept falling out
And here we have it – their first snow man!
Now it’s time for the adults to act like kids! I have never been sledding before, so I am not sure who had more fun – the twins or me? I have skied and gone tubing but not this…
And of course – snow play isn’t complete without making snow angels!
Another great day spent having some fun twin adventures! Now that they are two, there aren’t as many “firsts” anymore. But today we all experienced some firsts…snowman building, sledding and snow angels!
It really was fun being a big kid!
Have you acted like a kid lately?

So awesome! My kids grew up in Asia and we still have not yet experienced a white Christmas! We are now in Texas, so even though there is snow sometimes, it’s not much and it’s not where we are! Glad y’all are having fun! Happy new year!
Wow. All that snow. I spent the entire day trying to stay out of the burning sun. Large sun hats were the rage. The boys look as though they had a BLAST !
Aww, the twins are adorable as always! Hope you all have a wonderful New Year! Cheers!
So fun…I wish we got REAL snow down in Texas! I lived in the North East as a kid and loved playing in it so much. We’ll have to plan a snowy vacation for little C when she gets bigger so she can experience it too! Happy New Year
Happy New Year Cody!!!
